UPDATE: Patch User Says Former Reddy 2 Go Store Has New Tenant

Randy Boss says a smoke shop has moved into the spot on 40th Street West, which has remained vacant for a few months.

UPDATE: 2 p.m., 6/1/12

First off, thanks to everyone who responded with their suggestions.

As you can read in the comments below, Patch user Randy Boss gave us the following update on the former location of the Reddy 2 Go store:

Great feature for Patch readers....!

FYI - The smoke shop from the Albertson's center moved into this space yesterday!

We recently moved the Great Clips into the new building on the corner of 40th & Bridgeport so we could create a new, 4,000-sq-ft space for a new state liquor store along that side of the Albertson's. Of course you know what happened with the state liquor stores. The owners would like to put in a local breakfast, lunch and dinner cafe style restaurant on 40th street so find me a great operators.

Thank you so much for the update, Randy. I also think you've given Patch its next idea for our "What Should Go Here?" feature.

You ever drive past an empty storefront or building and say, "You know what they should put there ...?"

Well, so do we.

That's why today, University Place Patch is starting a new set of items in which we can discuss what should go in these empty spots.

There's nothing scientific about this, nor do they have any bearing on what will eventually go in these locations. Heck, there could already be a tenant-in-waiting that we don't even know about.

But it makes for great fodder, doesn't it?

Anyway, we now ask you, UP Patch users: What should go here, at the former location at the Reddy 2 Go Food Store?

Thanks so much for the information, Randy. I've went ahead and updated the story. I also think you've given me our next idea for "What Should Go Here?" Bad timing on the liquor store, I guess. Exactly where is the spot where they wanted to locate the liquor store?

Brent, I would rather see a Mom & Pop style deli. It would be great to have a place where you can get a really great sandwich as those are my husbands favorite foods and while Subway has great deals, I don't personally love them. I want good bread quality meats and yes if you could get a bagel with lox there too, all the better!

Karen is so right; a Mom & Pop style deli would be ideal! I can remember in the 70's there was a place in downtown Tacoma called Carrie's, on St Helens and 9th, that had the BEST hoagies. Italian steak, strombolis, AND bagels with creamcheese.... no lox though. When Carrie's husband Sam died, and after some time passed, she opened up another place on 9th and Market called "Sam's Hoagie Palace". I swear, it was the best hoagie place around. I sure miss it! It wasn't like Subway or Quizno's. They don't have the entertainment factor her places did, lol. There was always something going on there to entertain us during lunch.

Yuk on the smoke shop! (former 2pk a day smoker here) Now we can look forward to their windows being all plastered with signs, I bet.
