Black Friday isnear. While the holiday shopping season gets underway, consider spreading some cheer to the foster children in Renton by purchasing a toy or gift to donate to the . Not sure what to get a foster kid? Not a worry. We’ve collected wish list items from Sleep Country’s local foster organization partners including Treehouse, Bethany Christian Services and Olive Crest. Here are the top items:
Boys: Legos, Star Wars, action heroes, sports equipment (footballs, soccer balls, basketballs and baseball equipment), movies, music players (iPods, mp3 players) and headphones
Girls: Clothing and hair accessories (scarves, gloves, barrettes), make-up (lip gloss, nail polish), diaries/journals, baby dolls, books
All Children: Gift cards, board games (Monopoly, Sorry, Candy Land)
Young Children: Stacking cups/blocks, cars and trucks, play kitchen/cooking supplies, electronic learning toys (like LeapFrog), ride-on toys
Why do it? Foster children live in an uncertain world where moving into a new home can happen anytime, even around the holidays. Often forced to tearfully leave behind their toys, friends, and even their clothing, a present on Christmas morning means the world to these kids who seldom get anything brand new. AND, to get people in the giving and getting spirit, Sleep Country is hosting a Facebook contest allowing those individuals who donate to potentially win a new Kindle Fire. More details about the contest are available here.
Now through Dec. 11, new unwrapped toys may be dropped off at any Sleep Country store Monday through Friday 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Street.
