Skyway Firefighters Donate Firefighter Memorabilia to New Skyway Grocery Store

Skyway Grocery Outlet owners Jeff and Erin McNeil are trying to incorporate the culture and history of the area into the decor, including several old firehouse lockers that they found during construction.

During the grand opening of the GroceryOutlet in Skyway on Saturday, King County Fire District 20 (Skyway Fire) firefighters pose with staff and owners in front of the store. The owners were presented with several pieces of fire equipment to house above its Fremont Fire House lockers the owners found. The display is right as people walk into the door.

Among the items included a helmet, boots, flashlight, nozzles and a King County Fire District 20 sign.

"This store is the first grocery store in several years in Skyway, for the owners to take an personal interest in the fire district shows they level of commitment to the community," said Fire District spokesperson Dave Nelson. "We hope to add to the collection as we celebrate our 70th year in the community, we hope GroceryOutlet will be around for a long time too."
