Renton Farmers Market Re-Opens June 4

The Renton Farmers Market celebrates its 12th season in 2013.

Renton's Piazza park will be humming again with shoppers and vendors as the Renton Farmers Market re-opens on Tuesday, June 4, at 3 p.m.

Renton Mayor Denis Law will officially ring the bell to kick off the market season in downtown Renton at the Piazza, located at on the north side of Third Avenue between Burnett Avenue and Logan Avenue.

"We are excited to be celebrating another great season of the downtown Farmers Market." said Renton Mayor Denis Law. "We couldn't support this successful program without the generosity of private contributors, volunteers and vendors who make the farmers market in Renton so spectacular."

Over 60 vendors each week are open 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, from June 4 through September 24, selling goods including farm fresh produce and flowers, baked goods, seafood, meat, eggs, honey, and dairy.

The "Taste of Renton" will feature one local restaurant dishing up samples from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. every Tuesday through September. The ever-popular Kids' Patch returns with fun projects for the little ones and we will once again have live entertainment. Bring all your questions for the Master Gardeners who will be on hand each week to help you through the growing season.

New Farmers Market Coordinator, Carrie Olson, comes to the City of Renton from Enumclaw where she created the Enumclaw Chocolate Festival and assisted with the King County Fair.

"I have always loved visiting local farmers markets and I am excited to have the opportunity to work in Renton," said Olson.

Free parking is available for two-hours in the City Center Garage. The Renton Farmers Market is sponsored by the City of Renton with generous help from volunteers at the Piazza Renton.
