May 5 is Cinco de Mayo: Celebrate in Renton

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with beer, tequila, tacos, burritos, and more all around Renton.

Cinco de Mayo is on Thursday, May 5. Time to celebrate the Mexican holiday of the battle of the Mexican militia over the French army in the Battle of Puebla in 1862, with some food and drink specials in Renton.

  1.  You can celebrate the occasion at with a Barbecue Fiesta and Mexican beer for only $10.  They will offer a barbecue taco bar, and ice cold beers, and they are throwing in the first bottle of beer for free. You can choose from Dos Equis, Modelo, or Corona! Don’t forget that squeeze of lime.
  2. Want an inexpensive way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo? You can't go wrong with lunch for five bucks. is offering  burritos for $5 on May 5. You can choose whole wheat or flour tortillas, your choice of meats and toppings, and smothered in a southwest tomato sauce, or not.  They also offer fish tacos, soups, salads, and quesadillas.
  3. It’s a wild time at on Rainier Avenue, and they will have a lot of “crazy bar stuff” according to a Torero’s employee. There will be DJ’s on hand where you can dance to salsa music, and they are holding t-shirt and jalapeno eating contests. There are three Torero’s restaurants in Renton, including one on and one in the .
  4. La Fuente in Fairwood will also offer jalapeno eating and taco eating contests. Bar special prices weren’t available at press time, but there will be specials on Tequila, beer, and margaritas. La Fuente has Happy Hour specials from 3-6 p.m. daily, and pours Corona Extra, Corona Light, Tecate, Sol Negra Modelo, Modelo Especial, Pacifico, and Dos Equis. Chicken Taquitos and Beef Nachos are $5.95 and Beef and Chicken Fajitas for two are only $12.95.
  5. As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, is offering their signature crispy tacos for only 59 cents on Thursday! At that price, have two! There are three locations of Taco Time in Renton.
