Free Tax Assistance In Renton

Free tax assistance available in and around Renton, including some with translation services.

If you earn less than $40,000 per year and worked in 2010, you could qualify for free tax help. Or, perhaps you know of a neighbor or friend that could benefit from this assistance.

There are several places around the region that will provide qualified tax-aides that volunteer to assist individuals at low to moderate incomes. Some locations are walk-in based, some by appointment only, and several have translators in many different languages.

The United Way of King County provides much of the tax assistance in the region, including at the . Tax assistance is available on a walk-in basis at the Food Bank until April 14 at the following days and times.

  • Tuesdays – 5-9 p.m. with (Cambodian/Chinese translators available)
  • Wednesdays-5-9 p.m. with (Amharic/Tigrinya translators available)
  • Sundays—noon-4 p.m. with (Chinese translators available)

The United Way of King County advises that many sites become very crowded, particularly during April.  Customers should arrive early, or plan to wait. Be prepared to bring documentation, including: picture ID, names and birthdates of people living in your home who you plan to claim, last year’s tax return (if you have one), social security card, W2’s or end-of-year wage statements for you and your spouse. In addition, it is helpful to bring checking account numbers, documentation of any money that you have spent on higher education and training, social security cards, and mortgage interest statements. Both filers need to be present to sign tax forms, if you are filing jointly.

  • Federal Way Multi-Service Center has translators in Chinese/Spanish/Tagalog
  • Rainier Beach Community Center has translators in Chinese, Cantonese, Vietnamese
  • Hopelink Bellevue has translators in Chinese/Russian, Amharic/Farsi, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish
