Prominent Renton businessman, to Michael O’Brien, owner of the O’Brien Auto Group.
The deal, which occurred on Friday, is both a win and a loss for Renton, said City of Renton Economic Development Director Suzanne Dale Estey.
Bridge supports and nonprofits, she said, adding, “he intends to stay very involved in Renton.”
“Bob has framed it as a win-win,” Dale Estey said.
“Mike O’Brien is one of the most prominent auto dealers in the state, and he is also very community oriented.”
The Bob Bridge Toyota Scion web site includes a list of charities supported by the dealership, including , , Renton Teacher Appreciation Awards, , City of Renton Community Services Scholarship Program, youth programs with the Renton Police Department and Swedish Hospital.
Bridge introduced O’Brien to the employees early Monday morning, along with Renton Mayor Denis Law.
Dale Estey said the sale is expected to close by the end of December.
When asked just how much Bridge has given to the Renton community, Dale Estey said his support is immeasurable.
“I don’t think you can put a price tag on it,” she said. “He’s also brought a level of leadership as a businessman and has taken time to commit to our schools, kids and community.”
