One woman was critically injured Wednesday night in a shoot-out at Liberty Park near Downtown Renton.

Eyewitness reports claim two groups of people had gathered near the parking lot between the skate park and basketball courts when the gunfire erupted. Police say two people had guns and one opened fire at 8:27 p.m., hitting the woman at least twice and causing serious injuries.

Other news organizations claimed a teenage girl had been shot.

The shooting victim was quickly found under a nearby tree and rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she is reportedly in surgery.

Renton Police Cmdr. Dave Liebman said police are interviewing several witnesses and reviewing video tape evidence, but no arrests have been made at this time.

At least a dozen shell casings littered the parking lot as police combed the area for additional evidence.

It was unclear if the victim was an innocent bystander, nor were police sure of her age, Cmdr. Liebman said.
