Take a Mid-Week Break With a SIFF Preview Film Walk in Renton

Visit the Whistle Stop, History Museum and Liberty Cafe on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. for a chance to win free SIFF movie passes.

UPDATE: The City announced Tuesday that film walk participants who visit all three preview venues — ,  and  — will receive a free pass to the opening night screening and gala celebration on May 20. There will be a limited number of free tickets.

Looking for some mid-week entertainment? Renton FilmFrenzy and the Seattle International Film Festival, SIFF, have it covered with a sneak-peak preview of the event scheduled for later this month.

The , and will host a film preview on Wednesday, May 11 from 7 to 9 p.m.

SIFF movie passes and tickets will be available for purchase at the preview film walk. Check in at all three locations and get entered into a drawing for prizes including a ticket to opening night, movie passes and other surprises.

The film festival will stop in Renton from May 20-26. All selections will on a new screen — donated by Brad Brotherton — at the (IPAC). 

Opening Night, on May 20, will kick off with a screening at IPAC. Afterwards, attendees will migrate to the , located between the transit center and the , for a "bite of Renton." Eight Renton restaurants will provide 500 "bites" each for the gala. Four local establishments have donated librations for the event.

Two films are scheduled to play on opening night: Mama Africa at 5 p.m., and Black, White and Blues at 7:30 p.m.

Now in its 37th year, SIFF will show films at multiple venues around Puget Sound in Seattle, Ballard, Everett, Kirkland, and Renton.

Volunteers are needed to make Renton SIFF run smoothly. For more information email Arts@rentonwa.gov. A volunteer orientation happen on Wednesday, May 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center.
