Getaway to the Fair

For a late summer getaway, grab a loved one and check out one of Washington's popular fairs.

The first stop on the "Big 4"-Walla Walla, Ellensburg, Lewiston and Pendleton-Rodeo Circuit will be held at the Walla Walla Fair and Frontier Days. In addition to viewing Rodeo events, such as Bull Riding and Barrel Racing, you'll see animals, cooking demonstrations, a parade and some outstanding country and rock bands. As an added incentive, there's even a chance to win 100 gallons of gas and a new Toyota Tundra. The fairgrounds opened Wednesday, August 31st and close on Sunday, September 4th.

The Evergreen State Fair, in Monroe-will offer a variety of events, such as: 4H Competitive Exhibits, car stunts, car racing and three nationally acclaimed bands; One Republic, Cheap Trick and Peter Yarrow and Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul and Mary.

Perhaps you didn't know that the Ellensburg Rodeo is one of the top ten rodeos in the United States. Or that it is considered to have one of the best rodeo arenas in the country. The Ellensburg Rodeo is held in conjunction with the Kittitas County Fair where you can ride a bull, interact with an illusionist, watch a ventriloquist or hear one of several popular musical performances. If you need some added excitement, there are countless rides and games galore at the amusement center. The fairgrounds are open from September 1st through the 5th and the Ellensburg Rodeo starts on September 2nd through the 5th.
