Skyway Summer Safety Youth Day

This weekend King County Fire District 20 (Skyway Fire) and the King County Sheriffs Office will partner for the first annual Skyway Summer Safety Youth Day. The  goal of the event is to create better awareness among local youth around the jobs, responsibilities and services provided by first responders, especially during emergency situations.

“We have learned many of the Skyway youth have little understanding of how the fire district and the Sheriffs Office work during emergencies,” says Dave Nelson, event spokesperson. “We want them to not be afraid and to come to us with questions or concerns. By showing them what we do, we will help them better understand their role in an emergency.”

Additional community groups to will also be present to provide information on their youth programs and messages.

“This event has been a long time coming for this community, an event just targeting the youth,” Nelson said. “We want kids and parents to come to and discovery the beauty of Skyway Park and to have fun with the many free events and activities.”

Free hot dog meals for the first 500 kids will be available.
