Arts and Crafts Abound at Spring Festival

Renton's will return for its ninth year on Saturday, May 7. The annual event is a precursor to the , and a welcome reminder that warmer months lie ahead.

Unlike the , which sticks to fresh produce, Spring Festival vendors offer arts, crafts and food for both you and fido.

“This event is a nice compliment to everything the Piazza group does in downtown Renton," said event coordinator Susan Bressler. "For the citizens that ask for arts and crafts at the Farmer’s Market, this is one of the two opportunities they have to shop with these types of vendors." 

Don't forget that Mother's Day is Sunday. Last-minute gifts will be on sale at the booths, including Mary Kay, Avon, Tupperware, a variety of jewelry vendors, dog treats, candles, handmade scarves and capes and art work.

“I am particularly excited about this year’s festival because it is a nice mix of repeat vendors and a lot of new vendors we haven’t seen before," Bressler said. "Usborne Books, a first time vendor last year, that sells children’s books was extremely popular and is making a return visit.”

Come hungry, and follow the aroma of barbecue to the Lions Club hot dog stand, nibble on fudge for dessert, and stock up on fresh pastries to take home for Sunday brunch.

Work off lunch with a tour around town via the Participants build a poker hand by visiting downtown businesses and gathering playing cards. Players who build the best hand have the chance to win more than $1,500 in prizes. Entry into the poker run is by a suggested donation of  $1 or canned food for the Renton Salvation Army Food Bank.
