Arsenic And Old Lace Grace Renton Civic Theatre Stage For October Frights

Homicidal maniacs, plastic surgery gone wrong, and insanity come together in this classic favorite.

Now in its 25th season, the Renton Civic Theatre is keeping in tradition with its spooky selection for the month of October.

Arsenic and Old Lace — It's a classic audience favorite. A success both on Broadway and on the silver screen, (starring Cary Grant as the drama critic Mortimer Brewster), this farcical and macabre comedy is sure to please.

Mortimer is about to get married when he discovers his two, sweet spinster aunts are homicidal maniacs who take in lonely old men and poison them. They are assisted by Mortimer’s mentally-challenged brother who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt building the Panama Canal in the basement. To make matters worse, Mortimer’s murderous brother also shows up looking like horror-film actor Boris Karloff after having plastic surgery. As Mortimer realizes that insanity might run in his family, he must deal with his family, the Brooklyn police, his fiancé and a dead body!
