Scattered Snow, Hail Expected in Renton Over The Next 24 Hours

There have already been scattered reports of light snowfall and hail throughout the Renton, including The Landing, downtown and Benson Hill

Snowfall in the lowlands is a possibility all over western Washington Wednesday (Feb. 23) morning through Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service's latest winter warning.

Already there has been scattered reports of light snowfall and hail throughout the Renton, including The Landing, downtown and Benson Hill. The National Weather Service is warning that there could be snowfall overnight with three inches in the Puget Sound area lowlands by Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service reported in a memo that brief and local accumulations could occur in the hills above 300 feet, which would include some neighborhoods of Bellevue.

High temperatures will also be in the 30s, with lows below freezing, according to the National Weather Service. Friday and Saturday are so far projected to be sunny and clear, but cold with high temperatures in the 30s, and lows below freezing.

Renton's mid-winter break might seem especially wintery, with overnight snow and near-freezing and freezing temperatures a possibility starting overnight tonight (Feb. 21), according to the National Weather Service.

Snow could begin falling on hills as low as 500 feet tonight, according to a National Weather Service memo, but little accumulation is expected, and low temperatures are expected to be around 35 degrees, which is above freezing, according to the weather service.

However, there is a chance of snow accumulation both Wednesday and Thursday, with precipitation likely and highs expected in the mid to upper 30s, according to the weather service. Lows overnight Thursday and Friday are expected to dip into the low 20s, according to the weather service, which presents the possibility of icy roads.
