Save Some Money, Have Some Fun

Just Between Friends consignment sales are the place to shop for gently used clothes and to donate yours.

Talk to pretty much any parent, and they’ll agree that raising kids isn’t cheap.  Whether it’s gear, clothes, school fees or dental work, the costs pile up.

People striving to live a greener lifestyle also might find a challenge in the parenting thing—so much stuff that gets used for such a short amount of time and then discarded!  While we’re lucky to have so many options to help us in our parenting journeys, there has to be a better way … right?

Enter the Just Between Friends consignment franchise.

Founded by a pair of moms almost 14 years ago as a way to make a little extra cash while cleaning the basement, it has turned into a national franchise with 108 events in 22 states.

JBF, as its aficionados refer to it, has sales two or more times a year in the region from which the franchise operates.  Parents sign up to consign their children’s used clothing, toys, gear and other items of interest, and they receive a portion of the proceeds in return.

Depending on the sale, it may be open to the public anywhere from two to four days, with discounts offered on some merchandise on the last day of the sale.  People consigning with the sale get the special privilege of shopping early, and sale volunteers, the lifeblood of the process, get to shop extra early for the best selection.

The Seattle area is lucky—we have several JBF sales happening throughout the year in various locations from Tacoma to Everett

In Renton, we are even luckier because we have a sale in our very own backyard!  The Seattle JBF sale will be held here in Renton from Friday, May 13, through Sunday, May 15, with special presale days for consigners, volunteers and first-time parents on Wednesday and Thursday.

Want to consign?  You have a little less than two months to select, tag, and prepare items to sell at the sale—the website will walk you through all the steps of the process.

If the spring cleaning bug has got you, or if you’re realizing that the kids have grown out of their summer clothes, this sale might be what you’ve been looking for.  After all, who doesn’t have fun treasure-hunting in a whole warehouse of bargains!
