Patch Picks: Nearby Blueberries Ripe For The Picking

Blueberries are just now ripe for the picking and won't be around for long. Here are some of the best local farms offering rows and rows of plump berries for even the littlest of hands to enjoy.

Mountain View Blueberry Farm is just that, a picturesque farm set down in the valley of Snohomish with of view of the Cascades. They are located at 7617 E. Lowell-Larimer Road Snohomish, Wash. 98296. The farm yields many unique varieties of blueberries, some of which can’t be found anywhere else. Right now there are so many plump berries on the bushes you could pick a bucket full in no time.  If you have kids, of course bring them along. Pets are not allowed. They only accept cash and charge $1.80-pound for you-pick berries. If you want to reach them by phone call (360) 668-3391 for recorded message

Henna Blueberry Farm is located at 1800 Fall City Carnation Rd SE, Fall City, Wash. 98024-8003 in the Snoqualmie River Valley. They grow 10 varieties of blueberries: duke, bluecrop, and reka are the dominant varieties.  They are open every weekend until the blueberries are gone. Make sure you pack a picnic lunch to enjoy all the farm has to offer, including beautiful scenery, ducks and geese. You might even spot a beaver or turtle in the marshlands if you are lucky.  They charge $2.00-pound you-pick or $3.50-pound for pre-picked. Bybee Farms is located at 42930 SE 92nd Street North Bend, Wash. 98045 and has some of the best blueberries there is to offer. The farm has been in the family since 1946 and was originally 80 acres and now has approximately 42 acres remaining. They have a wonderful description of all the different types of blueberries they offer at their farm so make sure you visit their website before you head out the door.  Because of the rainy weather they are anticipating opening their doors for blueberry picking after the first week of August.  You can contact them by phone at 425-888-5745 and E-mail sbybee4@comcast.net for more information.

Remlinger Farms is located at 32610 NE 32nd Street Carnation, Wash. 98014 and can be reached by phone at (425) 333-4135. They are well known and visited by many, but they have a lot more to offer then most of the other farms, as far as activities for the family. They provide a Family Fun Park, and you can read about admission fees here. If you are just into the blueberries they opened August 3rd and will be open every Wednesday and Weekends from  9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., but make sure to check their website for any change in the blueberry crop that might affect open hours.
