  • When/Where: Tuesday, May 15 at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center, 400 S 2nd St. Concert by jazz trumpeter David Longoria starts at 7 p.m.
  • Why Go: The Salvation Army Renton Corps' seventh annual concert fundraiser, “Need Knows No Season,” will benefit The Salvation Army Renton programs and services. Admission tickets are on sale now, $25 each.

  • When/Where: Tuesday, May 15 from 4-7 p.m. at 263 Rainier Ave S, Renton
  • Why Go: Meet the city’s construction management team along with representatives from Johansen Excavating Inc. to ask questions and learn more about the project at the on-site office. Rainier Avenue South serves as the major north-south thoroughfare through downtown Renton, connecting South King County and South Seattle to Renton. This last piece of the $42 million Rainier Avenue South Improvement Project will result in improved transit mobility, upgraded traffic safety and enhanced pedestrian safety.   • Why Go: The Renton Municipal Arts Commission proudly presents an exhibit by local water color artist Jan Tervonen. The exhibit will be on display May 14 through June 22nd at Carco Theatre. You can see more information about her work at http://www.dajanarts.com.

  • When/Where: Wednesday, May 16 in the IKEA parking lot, 601 SW 41st St. in Renton from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: What's better than a truckload of furry animals ready to give you a lifetime of love? the Seattle Humane Society's MAXMobile, a bright yellow, 33-foot mobile adoption unit, will visit IKEA Seattle loaded up with dogs, cats and other critters who are in need of loving homes.   • When/Where: Wednesday, May 16 at 6 p.m. Meet at The Balanced Athlete in The Landing.
  • Why Go: Regardless of your running level, come meet fellow runners, joggers and walkers at the Balanced Athlete in Renton for a free fun group run. Wednesdays are ladies only night. Meet at the store, all abilities welcome!
  • Price: Free.
