Moms Talk: How Do You Talk To Your Kids About Sexual Predators?

How early should you start talking to your kids about the differences between boys and girls, what's considered appropriate, and how to avoid and report unwanted advances?

The Renton Patch Moms Talk is a resource for moms, dads, grandparents and caregivers to ask, answer and weigh in on current issues in neighborhood schools, social skills, tough-to-answer parenting queers, and the thousands of other issues that arise while raising children.

Moms Talk will also be the place to drop in for a talk about the latest parenting hot topic. Do you know of local moms raising their children in the Tiger Mother's way and is it the best way? Where can parents get information on local flu shot clinics for children? How can families help local schools weather budget cutbacks?

If you have an idea for a future Moms Talk question, please post it in the comments below or e-mail jenny.manning@patch.com.

How do you educate your children about appropriate sexual behavior, and what kind of "touching" is or isn't OK. Do you talk to your kids about sexual predators, or do you rely on the school system to educate your kids on that topic? How early should you start talking to your kids about the differences between boys and girls, what's considered appropriate, and how to avoid and report unwanted advances?
