King County Fire District No. 20 Graduates 7 from Recruit Class

King County Fire District 20 in Skyway welcomed seven new members to the district Saturday after completing a 26 week firefighter academy.

King County Fire District 20 in Skyway welcomed seven new members to the district Saturday after completing a 26 week firefighter academy. These seven will join then more than 40 other fire personnel (both career and volunteer) who response to the daily emergencies within King County Fire District 20 and beyond.

Christopher Deaton of Kirkland

Bruno Heller of Seattle (Phiney Hill)

Trase Pickering of Monroe

Peter Selby of Seattle (Phiney Hill)

Julian Thomas of Seattle (Capital Hill)

Additional awards given included:

Most Inspirational (voted by their peers) Peter Selby

Most Improved (voted by instructors) Julian Thomas

Chief’s Company (Top 3 recruits if needed to hop on the engine with the Chief) Lukas Crippen, Christopher Deaton, Trase Pickering. 

Fire Chief Mark Chubb told the recruits and their families, “This job, this calling, entails immense responsibility, which your instructors have taken even more seriously than their duty to equip you with the skills of the craft necessary to carry out your duties in the station, on the apparatus and on the incident ground. Having completed this course, you have earned the right to call yourselves firefighters.”

Captain Phil Bassett told the families thank you for allowing them to be absent from your family, the patience and support.
