It’s nearly the weekend and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do over the next couple of days. Renton Patch is here to the rescue:

  • Where/When:  On Fri., Oct. 21 The Homecoming Parade begins at 5:30 p.m., and goes from RHS to Shattuck Ave. S. to South 3rd Street, onto Logan Avenue and then to the stadium. Tailgate Party starts at 5:45 p.m. and will go until 7 p.m. at the west side of the stadium home parking lot. The BBQ includes polish dogs, beef hamburgers, potato chips, cookie, soda, water, and coffee.
  • Why Go: Join the Friends of Renton High School for the this Friday night. The tailgate party begins after the RHS Homecoming Parade and before the .
  • Cost: The tailgate/barbecue is free to RHS and Dimmitt Middle School students with student ID cards. Adults are $5:00 and children under 12 are free with paid adult barbecue ticket.

  • Where/When: 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; 2 p.m. on Sunday at the .
  • Why Go: Join the Renton Civic Theater for the opening weekend of their newest production,  The Mystery of Irma Vep. The play is a classic gothic/mystery spoof that comes to the Renton Civic theater just in time for Halloween. Enjoy the show! 
  • Cost: All tickets are $22(Adults), or $17 (Student/Senior).

 

  • Where/When: 9-11 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 22 in St. Andrew’s Ballroom at The Golf Club at Newcastle.
  • Why Go: The Eastside Candidate Forum is pleased to offer an opportunity for the community to meet the regional candidates for Washington State offices of Governor and Attorney General. Rob McKenna and Jay Inslee, candidates for Governor, along with Reagan Dunn and Bob Ferguson, candidates for Attorney General, will all speak at the forum.
  • Cost: Free.

 

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Sat., Oct. 22 at the Renton Memorial Stadium
  • Why Go: A community open house is planned for Renton Memorial Stadium,  which recently underwent a $7 million renovation that was funded through a voter-approved school construction bond measure in May 2008. There will be a brief presentation at noon including performances from high school drill/dance teams and the Blue Thunder drum line.
  • Cost: The event free and open to everyone.

 

  • Where/When: 7:30 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 22 at .
  • Why Go: The Rainier Symphony kicks off their 2011-2012 season this Saturday at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center. These talented muscians put on a great show, but don't take my word for it, check out this Youtube clip of the Rainier Symphony in action and see for yourself.
  • Cost: Adults: $15; Student/Seniors: $10; Children 12 & Under: Free.
