Festivals galore and more this weekend; get all the details on Patch

Why go? The restaurant is cozy, the food exemplary, fresh and healthy, the wine list great, the prices reasonable, and it is the perfect date night spot if you are seeking a night away from the kids.

Why go? Overseeing the production is Renton Resident, Lucinda Maxey.The opera is designed expose opera music as fun and entertaining for everyone.

Pricing: Suggested donation: $10, which benefits the LaStella Foundation, which supports Northwest arts & literature.

 

Sundays music series in the Park at Fairwood Greens 

Where/When: Sunday, August 26 at 6 p.m. From Maple Valley Highway, going East, turn right onto 140th, and go to the second stop light and turn left onto Fairwood Blvd. from Fairwood Blvd, turn north on 145th. The park is on the left-hand side of the road.

Why go? Free, fun summer concert series. This week's musical entertainment provided by Bonnie Lyon and the Tony Mamon Quartet. This is perfect for a date night, or bring the kids and let them play at the neighborhood park. The experience is casual and fun. Bring blankets, low chairs, and a picnic.

The 5th Avenue Theater, 25th Anniversary of Les Miserables

Where/When: 1308 5th Ave, Seattle, WA 98101 There are three more productions this weekend. At 8 p.m. on Friday night, a matinee on Saturday at 2 p.m., or an evening performance at 8 p.m. Call 206-625-1900 for ticket information.

Why go: The world’s longest running musical theater experience. Les Miz is the third longest running musical on Broadway and it is right here in your backyard. Based upon the dark novel by Victor Hugo, the production has won countless Tony Awards. The 5th Avenue's production, is a different production than you might have seen before with amazing new sets and costumes.

You may not get another chance to see this quintessential theatre experience right in Seattle. It is spectacular. The sets were amazing, the actors are in exemplary voice, and the final scenes will leave you in tears of joy.

The Second Annual International Festival & Night Market

Where/When: Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Located at The Greater Highlands Center & Viet Wah Plaza, 2820 Sunset Blvd. in Renton

Festival Hours: Friday 3-9 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Why go? It is a great opportunity to learn about the many different cultures that call Renton home and to experience this diversity with your ears, eyes, and tastebuds. Not to miss is the Lion Dance dance during the opening ceremony, the night market illuminated by Chinese lanterns, and the car show.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday the area will be alive with music, dance and food and arts and crafts — rich in celebrating Renton’s diverse community.

An exotic car show will be on display on Saturday. Major activities include: dance and cultural performances, live music, arts & crafts vendors, children's activities and playground, and a beer garden.
