Fourth of July in Renton: What's Open and Closed

Here's your guide to the fourth of July holiday on Thursday in Renton.

The Fourth of July is Thursday and observed as a federal holiday. Some area offices and agencies are also closed on Friday, July 5. Here's what you need to know to get around during the week.

Be sure to check for traffic, weather and construction updates along Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass, U.S. 2 at Stevens Pass, Interstate 5 near the U.S./Canadian border and I-5 between Olympia and Tacoma. Renton City Hall, Community Centers and Renton History Museum will be closed Thursday.

Henry Moses Aquatic Center will operate on regular schedule.

King County government: Closed Thursday.

U.S. Postal Service: Closed Thursday.

King County Library System is closed Thursday.

Metro Transit: King County Metro Transit bus and SHUTTLE services will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thursday. 

Sound Transit: Express Bus, Tacoma Link and Central Link are on a Sunday schedule on Thursday. There is no Sounder Train service Thursday. 

State of Washington: Closed Thursday.

Washington State Ferries: A holiday schedule is in effect on Thursday for the Point Defiance/Tahlequah, Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth, and Seattle/Bainbridge Island routes. The state advises travelers to plan for heavy traffic around the holiday.

Federal government: Closed Thursday.

Banks: Many, if not most, will be closed Thursday. Check your local branch.

Garbage and RecyclingWaste Management observes three annual holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas (Dec 25), and New Year's Day (Jan 1). All other holidays will not affect your collection schedule. Weekday holidays will delay collection by one day for the remainder of the week. For example, if a holiday falls on a Thursday, Thursday customers will be collected on Friday and Friday customers will be collected on Saturday.
