Thousands of runners pounded the pavement Sunday morning for the third annual Seahawks 12K. Starting at The Landing, the 12K runners continued north on Lake Washington Boulevard, around the Seahawks training facility (the Virginia Mason Athletic Center) and then back to The Landing.

Despite a dreary forecast, the runners enjoyed a brief sun break and slightly breezy conditions. The rain returned just before noon and is expected to continue on and off throught the day.

The event also included a 5K run/walk around South Lake Washington neighborhoods and near the Cedar River, and a non-competitive Kids Run. Following the run, participants and their family and friends visited with Blitz, the Seahawks mascot; Seahawks players; Sea Gals; and listened to the booming spirit songs of Blue Thunder.
