Community Snapshot: 2013 Polar Bear Dip

Temperatures in Lake Washington were 42 degrees while the temperature on land was 31 degrees.

More than 100 thrill seekers entered the warm Lake Washington waters Tuesday morning during the sixth annual Polar Bear Dip at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park.

Mr. and Mrs Santa Clause, along with several high school swimmers made several trips into the freezing waters.The Renton Fire and Emergency Services Dive Team provided additional support in case of emergency.

A fire pit and warm cups ofΒ Ivars' clam chowder awaited dippers once they got out of the water.
