AT&T DIGITAL LIFE AND HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BUILD HOUSE IN RENTON FOR FAMILIES IN NEED OF A HOME

Home for Renton Family Made Possible by AT&T Employee Volunteers and $150,000 Donation to Habitat for Humanity

This week, Renton City Councilmember Don Persson joined AT&T and Habitat for Humanity Seattle to announce the construction of a 9-unit multi-unit building for families in need of a home. AT&T employee volunteers joined Habitat for Humanity Seattle to help build a house in Renton, Washington. This is the third home build for the collaboration, with future build events planned in Dallas and Los Angeles thanks to a $150,000 donation from Digital Life to Habitat for Humanity.

AT&T volunteers helped with construction on a 9-unit multi-family home at Habitat’s La Fortuna. La Fortuna is located in Renton’s Benson Heights neighborhood, off Petrovitsky Road in an area zoned Residential Multifamily. The property is vacant land within an area of residential homes built from approximately 1960 to 1970. It will provide 41 very-low-income families with both an affordable home and an affordable mortgage in a new housing development in Renton.

“AT&T Digital Life collaborating with Habitat for Humanity is an opportunity for us to help those who need the security and peace of mind that owning a home can provide,” said Kevin Petersen, senior vice president of Digital Life, Inc. “We are committed to giving back through home builds across the country and especially in communities like Seattle.”

Digital Life will work with Habitat for Humanity to strengthen their goals and mission to help bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. Through this collaboration, Digital Life will donate $10,000 toward the construction of a new home in each of the five locations and will recruit more than 100 AT&T volunteers to participate in the builds.

Environmental stewardship and long-term affordability will be ensured by constructing the town homes to achieve or surpass Energy Star and Master Builders "Built Green" 4-Star sustainable building standards.
