Fellow Artists Find Jennifer Phillips' Stolen Artwork

Phillips was reunited with her stolen artwork today after a group of good samaritans (and fellow artists) found her art at a Seattle bus stop

Thanks to a group of good Seattle samaritans, Jennifer Phillips has been reunited with her stolen artwork.

Nearly two weeks ago, while it was parked at the Seattle Goodwill. Her laptop, iPhone and other personal items were also taken, but it was the artwork that was irreplaceable.

Then, today, she received a phone call from Komo News, which also reported on the stolen paintings and jewelry. A group of artists — musicians, singers, and producers who share a space at MIH Records — found the art while cleaning up the streets around their studio located at 4407 1/2 Rainier Avenue South, in Seattle, just three miles away from were Phillips' car was broken into.

The artwork was actually found near a bus stop right in from of MIH Records during a regular cleanup effort last week, Phillips said; however, the girl who found it didn't know what to do with it until another one of the studio's artists recognized Phillips' work from a Komo News report he'd seen about the stolen art.

And the most amazing part is the artwork was all there.

"You could tell the boxes had been rummaged through, but otherwise, nothing was missing," she said.

Phillips is so grateful that the other artists took the time to figure out that it was her work because there were no identifying labels.

"They're just an amazing group of kids," she said.

As for packing and transporting her work, Phillips will also take a different approach.

"I'm going to be thinking way differently now," she said about labeling her art and her boxes, and never leaving valuables unattended in the car.
